"A cappella on a whole different pitch"
The Potsdam Pitches were founded in the Fall of 2007 when a group of individuals, Bryan Elsesser, Jordan Bell, Justin Stockslager, and Pamela Jacovina had an idea of starting a mixed acappella group for the first time to be successful on the SUNY Potsdam Campus. Within a month the team of four would collaborate a group of 10 individuals called the Potsdam Pitches of which would ultimately create a group built on the purposes of a love for singing and would have their debut performance at The Vaudevillian Invitational in Potsdam, NY in Nov. 2007.
Past groups the Pitches shared the stage with include, The Vaudevillians (Potsdam, NY), the A# Arrangement (Potsdam, NY), The Potsdam Pointercounts (Potsdam, NY), and the Singing Sinners (Canton, NY).
With the coming Spring, the Potsdam Pitches are moving themselves from being a group with little recognition to a group of 12 with a busy schedule including a master class with Ben Parry (Swingle Singers), the Potsdam Pointercount Acappella Jam, their first annual Spring Invitational, and countless other casual performances. Their success is the result of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to the ideals of music education, music performance, and the performing arts.
The goal of the Potsdam Pitches to provide SUNY Potsdam students another facet of expression and interpretation, while bringing the community a newly trained acappella experience, and overall encourage the development and enjoyment of acappella music in our culture.
